The process for Worker's Compensation acupuncture coverage is similar for most cases. If you are injured on the job, you will need to be examined by an approved medical doctor.

Before You are Inured...

Many companies already have doctors chosen for this specific purpose, but it may be in your best interest to chose your health care provider beforehand. Before you are even injured on the job, you may file to have a designated acupuncturist. Submit the form labeled Acupuncturist Designation from our Forms page, under New Patient Forms, to the person in your company that is in charge of worker's compensation. (Typically this is Human Resources.) Also keep a copy for yourself, or submit it to us to keep with your records.

If You have Already Been Injured at Work...

If you would like to try acupuncture to help with an on the job injury that had led to pain, numbness, tingling or inflammation, you will need a referral from your primary workers compensation doctor, or from your case adjuster. Your doctor will give you a piece of paper that says "refer for acupuncture", or "acupuncture x12 visits". Please bring this paper with you to your first appointment so that we may make a photocopy for your chart. If you get approval from your adjuster, an oral approval is ok, as we will verify it for you.

We will need to verify your approval before your first visit, to be sure to avoid charges to the patient. For us to do to, please fill out the page titled "Worker's Compensation Info" on our Forms webpage [link] and send this to our office via fax or email us the information requested. (Our contact information is on the forms.) We will call you when we are able to verify your coverage, usually within 2 business days after we receive your information.
